Cannabis CBD pills and oils are the perfect way to use Cannabis as a medicine for daily treatment. Having much of the same benefits as its sister compound THC, CBD or Cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive compound meaning it doesn’t come with the associated “high” of CBD. This means that it’s much better suited for daytime use on an everyday basis. Cannabis CBD pills are also a very easy and discreet way to consume cannabis as they are just in a gel cap and no smoking or vaping is required. Dosing is also more accurate than smoking as the extracts are tested and should be listed with their CBD percentages; this gives you a larger amount of control, so you know exactly how much you are taking.
How Cannabis CBD pills are made
Being that Cannabis CBD pills are in a gel cap format the contents of the pills are a Cannabis oil made from a high CBD strain of Cannabis or they are a distillate of pure CBD. Most commonly you will find them in just oil format as the processing requirement for a distillate are much more intensive. An extraction process is always required to leech out the CBD compounds from the Cannabis plant material. This can come in a number of forms but the most common you will find on today’s market use a Hydrocarbon extraction process like Butane Hash Oil (BHO)extraction or CO2 Supercritical (CO2) Extraction. When it comes to Cannabis CBD pills for the medical community CO2 extractions are preferred as Butane extractions are considered less healthy due to the nature of Butane. Both methods will use their solvent compound whether that is Butane or CO2 to leech out the CBD from the plant, the mixture then has to be purged of the solvent so just the CBD oil remains. Once all solvents are removed the oil is then put into gel caps which are then ready for consumption.
Cannabis CBD pills made from distillate are one step up from just regular CBD oil as where CBD oil will contain more than just CBD compounds, it will have a Terpenes and flavonoids as well. Distillate on the other can use a further processing technique that removes just the CBD from the oil and concentrates that. These tend to be more expensive and harder to find as the market doesn’t have a huge demand for them yet. Additionally not everything about CBD is understood medically yet and the additional Terpenes and flavonoids along with other cannabinoid compounds could be working on concert with CBD to enhance its effects. With the burst in research and interest in Cannabis as a medicine we’re sure to learn more on how these compounds work in the future as it’s only a matter of time.
