Health Canada introduced the Marihuana for Medical Purpose Regulations (MMPR) in June 2013. The program simplifies the process of individuals looking to get medical marijuana prescriptions by enabling patients to consult medical advice directly with a doctor with no other party involved. In order to participate in the MMPR, individuals must submit their verified medical records detailing their diagnosis for consideration by Health Canada. Registered Physicians and Nurse Practitioners (NP’s) both have the authority to deliver diagnosis that are Health Canada recognizes.
