Hemp

Hemp comes from Cannabis sativa, the same plant as marijuana, but only contains trace amounts of the psychoactive ingredient THC. It can be used to make numerous products like paper, rope, food, building materials, fuel and more. It’s said to be one of the earliest domesticated plants in the world and it’s currently being cultivated in over 30 countries across the world with an estimated multi-billion dollar industry. It still remains a controlled crop in Canada and special permits are needed from the government to grow it legally.
