Health Canada introduced the Marihuana for Medical Purpose Regulations (MMPR) in June 2013. The program simplifies the process of individuals looking to get medical marihuana prescriptions by enabling patients to consult medical advice directly with a doctor with no other party involved. In order to participate in the MMPR, individuals must submit their verified medical records detailing their diagnosis for consideration by Health Canada. Registered Physicians and Nurse Practitioners (NP’s) both have the authority to deliver diagnosis that are Health Canada recognizes. The MMRP also created climate for the cultivation of it in commercialize industry context and addressed such concerns as, quality control and responsible distribution protocols to make sure it does not end up into the hands of minors. White Palm puts patients in touch with Doctors and NP’s that are familiar with the ailments that medical marihuana can treat.

The Amazing History of the Marihuana Plant
The Marihuana plant was first used in ancient Taiwan for its firm fibers as a building material. It was quickly discovered that it had tremendous health benefits and was incorporated into Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Germans and Vikings used as means of therapy to ease the pain of toothaches and as a mild sedative for childbirth. The first recording of a medical record referring to marihuana in a medical application was around 4000 BC being used as an anesthetic. It is only in the modern era that marihuana use has been demonized and often shunned by the majority of society. Since ancient times the marijuana plant has been used for numerous applications and we see the shift of it’s old world value being reinstated.
What the Scientific and Medical Community Want to Share with You
As the medical and scientific community continue to research marihuana, more programs are emerging that support its prescription as a medical treatment. Clinical trials have shown marihuana can help treat a variety of diseases including autoimmune diseases, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammation, pain, seizures, substance use disorders and mental disorders amongst others. The Canadian Aids Society in Vancouver estimates that between 14% 38% of people living with HIV/AIDS use medical marijuana to help with their illness. The Canadian Cancer Society’s stance is that those with cancer can use medical marihuana and suggest consulting a physician to make a decision. In 2014, 67% of 1500 WebMD medical doctors agreed that medical marijuana should be available for patients.
